Post Parent/Teacher/Student Conference Parent Survey

Calendar tips

Have you ever used Google calendar? Reminders sent to your gmail account are one of the best features of using this tool.

Student-led Conferences

Do you think kindergarten students are too young to lead their own Parent/Teacher conferences? Initially I was concerned whether or not they could handle this responsibility; however, I had seen the benefits of older children leading their conferences, so I had to allow my students and parents this learning opportunity. My students impressed their parents with their how much they had learned, and that they were very capable of explaining many classroom routines and concepts they'd been taught.  Below you'll find a link to a post conference survey giving parents the opportunity to give feedback on whether or not they thought this conference format met the needs of Parent/Teacher conferencing. Math

How are you managing the wide range of abilities in your classroom? There are many students who are still needing the foundational skills of beginning number sense, but there are some students who need challenges beyond the basics.  Please share any tips or lessons you are using to challenge your students who have above grade level math abilities.  If your students haven't ever used Magnetix, these are a "must-have" item for students.  Magnetix creations can be used with all children; there are no limits on students' imaginations when students start building with these toys.

Literacy

What are reasonable expectations for students to leave kindergarten reading?  I know students can "word call" and memorize the stories they are reading. What techniques are teachers using to develop comprehension of stories?
